Hammer-setting Stones : August 23 from 9:30-5:30
What to do when a normal bezel rocker isn't working, especially when setting stones into cast pieces, because the metal is too thick? You hammer-set the stone.
Hammer setting is used when a bezel metal is too thick and therefore difficult or impossible to use a burnishing tool by hand. It is a skill that is essential to learn because you do not want to crack the stone, and you don't want to kill your hands by trying to set the stone with manual force!
The great thing about this class is that it will be taught using simple tools that are easy to find and can be done at home.
In this workshop you'll learn how to set a 10x8mm oval onyx cabochon into a solid sterling silver ring setting using a ball peen hammer and a custom hammer setting tool, which will be yours to keep!
