The Silver Peak Story

When the world shut down in March of 2020 due to COVID-19, I (Jen) a full-time jewelry artist, saw my 32 art shows, and over $100,000 of potential revenue, vanish within two weeks. After doing the dance with unemployment and EIDL loans, things started to reopen that summer. Knowing that I had to earn income (at the time, that was the sole source of income for my family and me), I started teaching private jewelry lessons to those who wanted to learn metalsmithing. Once I realized I was able to blend my love of metalsmithing and teaching (I taught health and fitness for 18 years in my former career), I decided to put more energy into teaching.

I applied for the Martha Kate Thomas grant through Boulder County Arts Alliance to have the funding to get 3 jeweler's benches, flex-shafts, and hand tools, and was awarded the grant in June 2020. This is when Silver Peak Studio was born. It was in July 2020 when the first class, Cold Connections, was held in my 500 sq foot studio in North Boulder. As demand grew for classes, I moved my studio and classroom to Louisville, CO to a bigger space and added two more benches, and started to hire other instructors.

In April 2024, Silver Peak Studio found its home in Lafayette, CO, where my husband Shawn and I have lived for 29 years. Alongside the school, we opened a retail storefront where we could offer a more comprehensive jewelry experience, adding the services of selling in-stock jewelry by local artists, custom jewelry design for bridal, bespoke, and heirloom redesign, and permanent "welded" jewelry. We rebranded in 2025 to Silver Peak Jewelry Arts, which encompasses all that we offer.

The goal of Silver Peak Jewelry Arts is to give you an unparalleled experience in everything that is involved with the time-honored craft of silversmithing and goldsmithing jewelry.

Please stop by and say hello! We are open Wednesday-Saturday, 11:00-5:00, Sunday 10:00-2:00.
