


Soldering Techniques: Get Confident in Soldering: May 18, 9:30-5:30
Do you struggle with soldering? Once you increase your confidence with soldering, no matter what the project, jewelry fabrication becomes a lot more fun!
Many metalsmiths struggle with becoming proficient in soldering. Without proper guidance and practice, it is difficult to progress in this very important aspect of creating metal jewelry. This essential "technique only" workshop is specifically designed to foster an atmosphere of learning and support so that you can tackle any soldering challenge. At the end of class, you will have learned and practiced 5 different soldering techniques and created a pair of copper and sterling silver post earrings.
We will cover:
- the basic principles of soldering
- how different metals behave during soldering
- which solders to use for different pieces
- practice 5 different soldering techniques: sweat soldering, solder inlay, 3D soldering, post soldering, and soldering wire

- 8 contact hours, ages 14+ located at the Silver Peak Studio Classroom 100.5 E. Cleveland St Lafayette 80026
- Saturday, April 26
- # students: 3 minimum, 6 maximum
- Materials fee is $30 which includes metal and studio materials. Due at the beginning of class via cash, check, or Venmo.
- Each student will work at their own dedicated jeweler's bench.
- Prerequisite: Metals 1, Intro to Metalsmithing or equivalent
