Advanced PMC (Precious Metal Clay): January 31 from 9:30-2:30

Sale price$125.00

In this exciting class for those that have taken both beginner and intermediate PMC, you will make two rings, which may include a small stone (provided by instructor).

Prior to attending class, you will need to order and bring to class:

1 sterling ring core for your size from Cooltools.us (approx. $15).  The grooved core is highly recommended, as it gives the slip something to hold on to more readily. https://cooltools.us/products/sterling-silver-ring-core-slotted-half-whole-sizes?_pos=1&_sid=e16b11024&_ss=r

The second ring will be made of pure PMC.  We will be using a mandrel to form to the size, and learning how to calculate for some shrinkage.  A metal clay ring sizer (about $7) is available from Cool Tools, in packs of three, and comes in sizes to accommodate your PMC ring.  This helps to prevent shrinkage when firing and will help the ring hold it’s shape.https://cooltools.us/products/cool-tools-metal-clay-ring-sizers?_pos=1&_sid=a226cfa19&_ss=r&variant=41511614185660

Also bring your inspiration with textures will provide you with amazing results for your fine silver rings.

About the instructor, Alita McManis

With fifteen years of experience working with PMC, and thirty years of making jewelry, Alita will teach you all you need to be successful using Precious Metal Clay.

Alita started career in jewelry over 30 years ago, making pieces for friends and family. 2008 brought a move across the country to Virginia, where she joined Floyd Artists Association, a Co-Op gallery in Floyd, VA. She was still doing beading with semi-precious stones at that time, and suddenly she found the beaded jewelry sector to be over saturated. At that moment, she felt the yearning to learn something new.

One day, in 2008,  she saw an ad for a class in Precious Metal Clay. Alita took said class and was an immediate addict.

Since then, Alita has been working with PMC, and returned to Arvada in 2013. Her inspiration comes from the Earth, Moon, and Stars. Alita says, "We live in such a magical world! The Universe sends me ideas, and my creations are the result. I do my creating in a small studio in Arvada."
