Functional & Articulating Rivets: November 2 from 9:30-5:30

Make your jewelry fly, spin or wave! Students will learn how to use tube and wire riveting to connect pieces together without soldering as well as how to use rivets to create moveable parts in their pieces. 

At the end of class, students will have completed and articulating pendant. (Come with sketches and ideas which will help speed up the design process. Think flowers, windmills, butterflies!)

• Sunday, November 2 from 9:30-5:30.

• 8 contact hours, ages 14+ located at the Silver Peak Jewelry Arts, 100 E. Cleveland St Lafayette 80026

• # students: 3 minimum, 5 maximum

• Materials fee will be based on current metal markets. Due at the beginning of class payable to the instructor via cash, check, or Venmo.

• Each student will work at their own dedicated jeweler's bench. 

• Prerequisite: Metals 1, Intro to Metalsmithing or equivalent experience (must be proficient with a jeweler's saw and flexshaft)

About the instructor, Michele Throne

Michele’s first dip into metalsmithing started with a high school class. She then picked it back up after getting her BFA at Florida State University. She’s been a full time jeweler for 11 years, and has been teaching art since 1998 and metalsmithing since 2012. She has taught jewelry workshops for over a decade.

Her deep love and appreciation for everything outdoors and love for people inspire her to create jewelry focused on nature and the human experience. 

A few of Michele's favorite things: rock climbing, unlikely animal friendship videos, and chai tea on her back deck on a summer morning.
