Go beyond hammer textures and learn the nuances in adding unique textures to metal using flex shaft tools!

Sometimes texture is an important design element, sometimes it’s a way to express something in your jewelry, sometimes it’s a way to hide a mistake, and sometimes it’s just fun! 

If you are interested in learning a variety of ways to approach texture then this is the class for you. Students will learn different methods to create texture using stamping tools, hammers, and flex shaft tools.

This is predominately a technique-based class, though it will have the option of creating a textured copper pendant.

Details:

• Saturday, October 25 from 9:00-1:00

• 4 contact hours, ages 14+ located at the Silver Peak Jewelry Arts, 100 E. Cleveland St Lafayette 80026

• # students: 3 minimum, 5 maximum

• Materials fee will be based on current metal markets plus $10 for studio materials. Due at the beginning of class via cash, check, or Venmo.

• Each student will work at their own dedicated jeweler's bench. 

• Prerequisite: none

About the instructor, Michele Throne

Michele’s first dip into metalsmithing started with a high school class. She then picked it back up after getting her BFA at Florida State University. She’s been a full time jeweler for 11 years, and has been teaching art since 1998 and metalsmithing since 2012. She has taught jewelry workshops for over a decade.

Her deep love and appreciation for everything outdoors and love for people inspire her to create jewelry focused on nature and the human experience.
