Open Studio for Silver Peak Jewelry Arts Students
Open studio is available for those students who have taken our Metals 1 or Beginning Metalsmithing class (Metals 1 and 2), or have equivalent experience. If you have equivalent experience and have not taken a Metals 1 or Beginning Metalsmithing class, you will be required to submit photos of recent work and undergo a 30-45 minute safety check and protocol review which will cost $75.
Students using the space will have access to a student bench, hand tools (hammers, pliers, files), flex shaft (bring your own attachments), torch, pickle, guillotine shear, rolling mill, vise, ring and bracelet mandrels.
Proper safety habits in the studio, knowledge of machinery and acetylene torches is a must, and proper studio attire is mandatory. By purchasing studio time, you are agreeing to our dress code and studio rules.
You will be responsible for bringing your own materials and supplies - including "consumables." This includes metal, solder, flux, bristle discs/polishing wheels, texture plates, and any other materials needed to work on your projects.
Cost for open studio is $25/hour and is available by appointment only. Please contact us to schedule your time.

Wednesday, April 9: 10:00-12:00
Tuesday, April 22: 11:00-2:00
Wednesday, April 23: 11:00-2:00
Wednesday, April 30: 1:00-5:00
Open studio hours and availability are subject to change without notice.
Open Studio Rules:
- Students will need to bring all their own material and consumables, including, but not limited to: saw blades, sheet metals and wire, solder, flexshaft attachments, and Rolling mill texture plates.
- Open studio time is by appointment only, and is reserved in advance via email. A 24-hour cancellation policy is required, otherwise you will forfeit your open studio privileges.
- Workshops and private lessons take precedence over open studio.
- Students are expected to be able to work independently.
- Dress code: long cotton pants or jeans, cotton-dominant t-shirt, closed toe shoes, hair tied back if can be tied back.
- You are required to use proper ventilation while soldering and wear your own KN95 mask while polishing silver.
- Equipment access is granted with proper training prior to open studio
- You will be required to return all tools to their proper places and clean up after yourself; this includes, wiping down your bench area, cleaning out your sweep tray, wiping down the soldering station, taking out any garbage. food containers, etc..
